چکیده
Seventeen samples from the Cadeby Formation (Lopingian, Permian, EZ1) of Quarry near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, UK, yielded organic residues including phytoclasts, cuticle, unstructured tissue and generally well-preserved palynomorphs. The palynomorph assemblages are dominated by taeniate non-taeniate bisaccate pollen Klausipollenites schaubergeri, Limitisporites rectus, Lueckisporites virkkiae Taeniaesporites noviaulensis. similar to those English Midlands described Kimberley Railway Cutting Haughton Hall Borehole, Nottinghamshire Marl Slate (lower Durham Sub-basin at Claxheugh Rock Crime Rigg mid EZ1 Salterford Farm Borehole Woolsthorpe Bridge Borehole. excellent preservation allows recognition that Dicappipollenites Tiwari & Vijaya 1995 is a junior synonym Potonié Klaus emend. Wuchiapingian (lopingian, Late Permian) Brachiopods from the Episkopi Formation of Hydra Island, Greece
Twenty-three species of silicified brachiopods are described from four samples in the middle and upper parts of the Episkopi Formation from Hydra Island, Greece. These brachiopods are newly recorded from the region and together with previously described brachiopods from the same localities constitute the most diverse Lopingian (Late Permian) brachiopod fauna reported in southern Europe. The bra...
متن کاملPseudophillipsia (Carniphillipsia) (Trilobite) from the Permian Jamal Formation, Isfahan, Iran
The aim of this study is to bridge a gap in the existence of Trilobites in the marine Permian successions of Iran by exploring a stratigraphic section of the Permian in Jamal Formation (Dizlu section). Based on comprehensive field studies and laboratory investigations three Trilobite specimens were identified in the study area including Pseudophillipsia (Carniphillipsia) dizluensis sp. nov., P...
متن کاملPalynomorphs’ response to sea-level fluctuations: a case study from Late Cretaceous – Paleocene, Gurpi Formation, SW Iran
Statistical studies on Palynology contents of Late Cretaceous to Paleocene age Gurpi Formation in a surface section in Zagros Basin,SW Iran indicate changes in abundance, species diversity, ratio of Spiniferites to Cyclonephelium (S/C), palynological marine index(PMI) values and organic facies. These palynological variations clearly reflect fluctuations in relative sea-level and depositionalenv...
متن کاملPermian marine paleoecology and its implications for large-scale decoupling of brachiopod and bivalve abundance and diversity during the Lopingian (Late Permian)
The transition during the Permian–Triassic interval from brachiopod-rich benthic marine assemblages to communities with diverse molluscs has been well constrained by measures of global taxonomic richness but its ecological context has not been studied using quantitative relative abundance data. New relative abundance data from Early, Middle, and Late Permian silicified fossil assemblages from o...
متن کاملPaleoecology of the Quarry 9 vertebrate assemblage from Como Bluff, Wyoming (Morrison Formation, Late Jurassic)
Quarry 9 is among the richest microvertebrate localities in the Morrison Formation, having thus far produced the remains of dozens of Late Jurassic taxa. Because this lenticular claystone deposit records such a high diversity of contemporaneous species, it provides an exceptionally detailed view of their paleoecology and local paleoenvironment. In this study, we reexamined the entire Quarry 9 c...
